The speculations started in 2015 have turned into reality over the years. It’s coming to Apple TV+ Tetris, biopic on the life of Alexey Pajitnov, creator of the most famous video game of all time. In these hours the first trailer of the film has been released which seems to be a mixture of thriller and action. Kingsman star Taron Egerton will play Dutch video designer Henk Rogerswho first secured the rights to distribute the game on consoles.

Based on a true story, Tetris tells the incredible story of how one of the most popular video games ever came to infect avid gamers around the world. Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton) discovers Tetris in 1988 and decides to bet everything on the video game by traveling to the Soviet Union, where he joins forces with its inventor Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Efremov) to be able to bring it to the attention of the masses. It is a thriller set in the Cold War era, with double-crossing ‘bad guys’, unlikely heroes and a thrilling race to the finish line. The film will arrive on the streaming platform on March 31st.

The rumors around the making of a film about Tetris they had been around since 2015, but have become more persistent in 2020. The film was produced and financed by Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Films, the film’s production company Rocketman, in which Taron Egerton played Elton John earning him a Golden Globe, in collaboration with Leonard Blavatnik’s AI Film. The director, Jon S. Baird, has previously directed films from the likes of Laurel & Hardy (2018), film based on the last years of the life of the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, starring Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly as Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy respectively. Jon S. Baird has also worked with the likes of Martin Scorsese, Danny Boyle, Jim Carrey, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter.
