Os ‘Banhos Velhos’ are a multicultural initiative, which hosts concerts, cinema, gatherings, lectures, theater, workshops, guided tours and educational service, in a total of more than two dozen initiatives, all with free admission, according to the statement released today .
“With the mission of decentralizing culture, this will be a cultural season with activities for all audiences. Here everyone fits and everyone has open doors to see something they identify with or to be confronted with the unexpected” explains the organization.
The stage is the thermal building of Caldas das Taipas, which celebrates 125 years.
Activities begin with a tertulia, followed by a play, created from scratch for this purpose.
In music, the highlights go to the shows by Surma and Mira Quebec with DiogoM., in June.
In July, there is the show by José Pinhal ‘Post-Mortem Experience’, followed by the DJ Set by António Bandeiras.
August is marked by the return of First Breath After Coma and Noiserv, with a fado night with Grupo de Fados da Vila.
Finally, in September, the proposal is A Garota Não.
The program also includes a series of educational service activities.
The creative writing ‘workshop’ for students from Escola Secundária de Caldas das Taipas is scheduled for May 23rd.
Over the four months of programming, educational initiatives include educational guided tours in June, an astronomy night in July, and a gathering in September.
In another area, the Amador de Campelos Theater Group presents ‘Dois Tempos’, in July, while the ATRAMA group closes the program with ‘Aquistas’, a performative experience inspired by the memories of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso during his stay in the thermal spa from Caldas das Taipas.
The cinema is also present with the first session in July, with the projection of the film ‘Everything Everywhere at the Same Time’, by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the most awarded Oscar this year.
In August, ‘The Fabelmans’, by Steven Spielberg, ‘The Whale’, by Darren Aronofsky, and ‘Aftersun’, by Charlotte Wells, complete the movie cycle.
