The Golden Globes will be held for the 80th time.

The award ceremony highlights what is considered the best among films and TV series from the past year.

In 2021, the network NBC chose not to televise the Golden Globe broadcast. It happened after Los Angeles Times made several revelations about the jury behind the award ceremony.

Now the famous award ceremony is back on the TV screen to showcase Hollywood’s greatest talents within the film and television industry.

See the full list below of the night’s winners and nominees.

Controversial jury

Much of the industry distanced itself from the Golden Globe Awards after the Los Angeles Times revealed details of the jury, which was made up of around 90 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA)

In the revelations, it emerged that no black people were members of the jury. The HFPA also received criticism for not nominating black actors or directors that same year.

After the details of the investigation emerged, the NBC network decided that the 2021 broadcast should not be shown on TV.

Surprising decisions

according to Variety this year’s jury is also said to have made a number of unpopular choices ahead of the launch of this year’s nominees.

Among other things, Will Smith is said to have been excluded from the fight to get a nomination in the category of best actor, for his role in “Emancipation”. This is probably a consequence of Smith hitting Chris Rock during the Oscar broadcast.

Even the world’s most expensive series did not reach the eye of the needle. Amazon’s blockbuster “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” failed to get a single nomination, despite rave reviews from critics.

Humorous hosting

The Golden Globes are known for hiring comedians as emcees.

Among other things, the British comedian Ricky Gervais has been a conference host five times. Well-known comedians such as Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon and Amy Poehler have also hosted in the past.

This year, American comedian Jerrod Carmichael presided over the famous award.

In 2022, Carmichael himself received an Emmy award for “outstanding writing for a comedy special”.
