The Government invested $1,000 million in a project to bring internet to 400 towns in 23 provinces of the country.

The Government, together with the Chief of Staff, will launch a mega plan for satellite connectivity and digital resources through the “Mi Pueblo Conectado” program. The idea is to improve the connectivity of almost 400 towns throughout 23 provinces that, for now, do not have full internet access.

The Government is going to invest $1,100 million of its own funds to bring satellite connection to different open and closed points in 370 towns, as established by resolution 19/2022 published in the Official Gazette.

“With this initiative, the national State will promote quality Internet access, generate inclusion at the federal level and guarantee a more connected Argentina,” said the Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur. “Favoring accessibility throughout the national territory, but mainly within the interior, is a very important step that allows us to contribute to the equitable development of the country,” he added.

What will the $1,000 million be spent on?

According to official information, $200 million will be allocated to open an access point that can be used publicly and two VSAT antennas for each location. In turn, $900 million will be transferred to the provinces for the purchase of computer equipment. The objective of the plan is to reach 30 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, with a consumption of 100 GB of traffic.

The provinces were chosen through the Federal Index of Territorial Inequity (IFIT), based on the “degree of vulnerability of the telecommunications infrastructure of different populations and found in more than 350 the need to reach them with connectivity solutions”.
