Bolivian embassy in Moscow expresses to Russia its desire to join the BRICS

Caracas.- The Bolivian Embassy in Moscow has delivered an official notice to the Russian side informing about its desire to join the BRICS bloc – made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -, the head of the diplomatic legation, María, told TASS. Luisa Ramos Urzagaste.

“We delivered this note to all the BRICS countries (…). And then, according to the BRICS’ decision, they invited the president to the summit,” he said.

According to the ambassador, the BRICS is an appropriate platform for building a multipolar world, since “there is democratic dialogue and there are new organizations and institutions.” “We believe that Bolivia will be able to pass on her experience as a free and independent country,” she stressed.

Likewise, the senior diplomat pointed out that preparations are underway for Bolivian President Luis Arce’s visit to Russia, but the exact dates have yet to be determined. “The agenda between Russia and Bolivia is very saturated, and when the president will arrive, I cannot say, but we are working on it,” he declared.

At the end of July, the Bolivian Minister of Foreign Relations, Rogelio Mayta, announced the intention of the South American nation to form part of the bloc. “We seek to move towards sustainable and inclusive development, strengthening cooperation with these emerging economies,” he said.

Likewise, Mayta announced Arce’s participation in the group’s XV Summit to be held on August 24 in the South African city of Johannesburg.
