The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) was seized after a police officer broadcast racist messages and confidential police files on Telegram, published this week by Mediapartsaid the Créteil prosecutor’s office on Friday.

Between August and November 2022, this official stationed at the Kremlin-Bicêtre police station (Val-de-Marne) regularly published messages on a Telegram channel run by members of the far right in Quebec.

In this group, the peacekeeper published photos of people he had arrested or kept at the police station, specifying the reasons for their custody or their criminal history.

“Slipper-man”

This member of Éric Zemmour’s Reconquête party accompanied his messages with insulting, pejorative or racist comments, notably describing two people who died in a road accident as “babouche-man” or “baboons”.

These messages were revealed last month by an anti-fascist group in Montreal, which had infiltrated the Telegram group, and relayed by Mediapart.

The Paris police headquarters made a report to the courts, and the IGPN was seized by the Créteil prosecutor’s office.

According to Mediapart, the official had planned to leave the police force on December 1 before emigrating to Quebec, where he was looking for neighborhoods “unspoiled by diversity”.
