New week, new episode of The Last of Us series! This time: Joel, Tess and Ellie must cross the ruins of Boston to find the Fireflies. But a cult enemy stands in their way.

Adapting The Last of Us in series, it was not won in advance! In addition to installing new aspects complementary to the video game (without systematically recalling the similarities with it), the creators Craig Mazin | Neil Druckmann – father of the license – must integrate a certain number of cult scenes, often important to the story. For episode 1, When You’re Lost in the Darkness, impossible to miss a tragic event that fans know well. It’s the same for this second chapter. After escaping FEDRA, Joël, Ellie, Tess go deep into Boston to find the Fireflies. As detailed in our full review, the heroes will thus go to the Capitol via the Hotel then the Museum… Yes, it is indeed in this last place that a particularly dangerous creature sleeps. It’s time to talk about the ‘clackers’, according to HBO.

A solid rise in tension

If you’ve played The Last of Us, you know the story. There are not only inanimate things in this Museum, no exception for the series! Entering discreetly, Joel, Ellie, Tess first discover a ground floor covered in fungal veins. Here, we must already greet great job on the sets : the traces of the cordyceps carpet the walls – just like the corpses which litter the steps of the staircase. To see, it is quite impressive. The floor is at hand. As soon as the heroes enter, a noise, recognizable among a thousand, breaks the silence. Hi sir snapper.

We won’t go into the details, but as you can imagine, Joël, Ellie, Tess are in trouble… For this important scene, Neil Druckmann (who is directing episode 2) demonstratesa strong sense of tension, with a gradual rise that erupts when the creature spots the small group. Moreover, nothing to say about the appearance of the clickers, whose behavior and noises are to be mistaken with the video game. We can also note some good staging ideas, which again recall the basic material without overdoing it. In short, it’s very good work.

Soon another cult monster?

It’s sure, it’s not the last group of clickers that the heroes will come across! In episode 1, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann had already revealed to us the ‘runners’, these creatures at the lowest stage of infection (who have the annoying habit of running into you). Then there are the ‘prowlers’, in worse shape and more powerful, then – apart from the clickers – the ‘Colossus’, encountered by Joël and Ellie in the University of Eastern Colorado, at least in the video game . As for the TV show, we seemed to pick up on this other cult monster in a recent trailer, the photo of which is above.
