The mass series production of Netflix and other streaming providers don’t make the job of writers any easier, and while these companies are making decent profits, contracts are very short compared to the past and are becoming poorly paid. Many authors could no longer make a living from their work, although they work for large companies like HBO and Disney+ work. There would no longer be a secure environment that could ensure stability and progress.

Too little money, then no series

For these reasons, among others, numerous members of the Writers Guild of America recently went on strike. Work on films and series is therefore on hold for the time being, which is why fans, for example, have to wait a little longer for the final season of Cobra Kai. How Variety reportsit now has the second season of The Last of Us (buy now ) caught.

According to Variety, since the new episodes are not yet scripted, actors auditioning had to recite their lines directly from The Last of Us Part 2. However, according to “a person with knowledge of the production”, the work has now been put on hold for the time being. Actually, production should have started in a few months.

When will The Last of Us continue?

The fact that there is no script yet is not particularly surprising. Finally, due to the strike, neither are working Craig Mazin still Neil Druckman on the second season of the Netflix hit The Last of Us. Notably Mazin, who wrote the lion’s share of last season’s episodes, has fully joined the Writers Guild strike. It is currently unclear when The Last of Us will continue.
