At the major electronics show in Las Vegas, Stellantis presented its latest model Ram 1500 Revolution BEV on Thursday, a prototype of the brand’s future electric pickups.

Stellantis unveiled a prototype of future electric pickups from its Ram brand on Thursday during a presentation at the major electronics show in Las Vegas, during which a new Peugeot archetype was also presented.

Called Ram 1500 Revolution BEV, the model is still a concept that will evolve. Among its features are doors opening like those of a double window, more space inside, a retractable steering wheel that can make room for a computer, a third row of folding seats in the back.

The group did not specify how far the vehicle could cover on a single charge, saying only that it could reach up to 160 kilometers after about 10 minutes on a fast-charging station.

The first model is expected in 2024 in a market where Ram’s main competitors in the United States have already made their mark: Ford has been marketing its popular F-150 Lightning since the spring, while the electric Silverado from Chevrolet (General Motors) and Tesla’s Cybertruck is expected to be available in 2023.

The idea is to bring “the right pickup, with the right features, at the right time,” said brand manager Mike Koval. “That’s what makes the difference between building an electric brand and just a new electric pickup,” he added. The group will surpass its competitors in terms of range, towing, payload and recharge time, he said.

A new entity dedicated to data

Stellantis also highlighted Peugeot on Thursday by presenting a prototype to inspire the brand’s next generation of vehicles, named Inception Concept.

Electric, with a “feline” look according to Peugeot director Linda Jackson, the car notably offers instead of the steering wheel a rectangular surface operating by touch, which can retract to make way for a panoramic screen running across the width of the vehicle. .

The manufacturer also took advantage of the event to announce the creation of a new entity dedicated to the exploitation of data recovered from vehicles, and called Mobilisights.

“Used effectively, sensor data and other data collected by connected vehicles can be the source of a wide range of services and applications with undeniable advantages, ranging from personalized insurance based on use, to the detection of risks on the road, through traffic management”, noted its director, Sanjiv Ghate, in a press release.
