Some haters see this as an attempt to pander to the competition post-flop as a DC superhero. Insinuations like “Rock got his ass kicked by DC and is now trying to Marvel to land” or “for the hundredth time Rock is trying to get a role with a production on social media” can be read in the comments.

Such derogatory posts may not be uncommon on social media. In this case, however, they seem particularly tasteless, since Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson obviously commemorates a deceased idol on his birthday.
