Many don’t know this, but Like a Dragon: Ishin! has already had a first life in Japan. Released exclusively on Japanese territory in 2014, Ryu ga Gotoku: Ishin of its original name was then only intended for PlayStation 3 and 4. Nine years later, water has flowed under the bridge. The one who is now called Like a Dragon wants to make himself known to the whole world before his release.

We are in the Kyoto of the 1860s, a period when inequality and corruption reign supreme in Japan while our protagonist Sakamoto Ryoma is accused of a murder he did not commit. No longer having the sole mission of clearing his honor while shaking up the established order, our samurai then adopts a false identity in order to enter a school bringing together the best swordsmen in the country.
Driven by the blade of his katana, Ryoma’s motives will only find satisfaction once balance and justice are restored.
A very difficult task to accomplish looms before the eyes of our hero. His fights will be punctuated by a gameplay mechanic based on the use of “improvable soldier cards”. This system will allow the player to obtain extremely powerful temporary bonuses as well as special abilities that can get him out of trouble.
On this subject, two special cards representing respectively the wrestler of the AEW Kenny Omega and the actor Rahul Kohli can be recovered via a DLC as soon as the game is released.
Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Like a Dragon: Ishin! will be available to everyone from February 21, 2023 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Pre-ordering will give you access to three additional weapons: Bloodshard, Kijinmaru Kunishige, and Blackship Cannon.
