The sequel Captain Marvel and series Miss Marvel will be released in November instead of July.
The Marvelsthe sequel Captain Marvel and series Miss Marvel, never ceases to be postponed. Originally dated July 8, 2022, then November 11, 2022, the blockbuster was later delayed to February 17, 2023, then July 28, 2023.
Marvel Studios has just announced this Friday a fourth date change, which should be final. The film will now be released on November 8 in France (and November 10 in the United States).
Avoid competition from “Barbie”
According to the American media, this new date is not related to problems in post-production (with the special effects), but to the new strategy of Disney, which wishes to space out Marvel films more, in order to maximize their success.
The release in July of The Marvels would indeed have been too close to that, in May, of the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. And too far from that of Captain American: New World Order, scheduled for May 2024.
By moving The Marvels in November, Marvel avoids competition from Barbie, arguably the most anticipated Hollywood blockbuster of the year. But it will be released between two films with strong commercial potential: the sequel to Dunes and the prequel to The Hunger Games.
33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and 3rd in Phase 5, The Marvels is part of the continuity of the series Wanda Vision And Ms.Marvel. Brie Larson re-enlists there and gives the reply to Iman Vellani (Miss Marvel) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
