Apple has canceled its series The Mosquito Coast after two seasons set. So there won’t be a third season. The series ran on the Apple TV+ streaming service and completed the second round about two weeks ago. Apparently, however, not enough subscribers tuned in to justify a sequel.

The series is loosely based on the 1981 novel of the same name by Paul Theroux. The main role was played by Justin Theroux, the author’s nephew. The book was made into a film in 1986, starring Harrison Ford. The plot revolves around a brilliant inventor who is also a stubborn idealist and ends up with his family on the run from the US government, drug cartels and assassins.

The first two seasons of the series acted essentially as a prequel to the novel and the movie. Actually, things would have gotten down to business now – but that won’t happen anymore.

Did you follow the series? If yes, how did you like it?
