South Tyrol is known for its apple orchards and so the “Bozen thriller” takes place among fruit growers in this case. In any case, the victim, Therese Pfister (Hanna Binder), belonged to a long-established and powerful family of farmers. Did you have trouble with the competition? Inspector Sonja Schwarz (Chiara Schoras) and her colleague Jonas Kerschbaumer (Gabriel Raab) quickly realize that the dead man’s brother and heir to the family farm, Johannes Pfister (Oliver Mommsen), is not very popular among the fruit growers.

But Therese’s marriage does not seem to have been happy either. She was reportedly having an affair with her brother-in-law Gernot (Jan Messutat). The motive could also be very simple jealousy. But there is also Urban Masur (Saro Emirze), who works for Therese’s brother and seems to know about an old family secret.

Sonja Schwarz approaches the case rationally as usual. And the viewer gains an insight into the traditional irrigation methods used by fruit growers, dating back to the Middle Ages, as well as into inheritance regulations that have been cultivated over generations.

The commissioner also gets stressed out privately on the subject. Because her ex-mother-in-law Katharina (Lisa Kreuzer) is thinking about how her winery could go on. She wants to draw up her will and asks Sonja and her granddaughter Laura (Charleen Deetz) for advice – not realizing that a conflict is imminent. But, as leading actress Chiara Schoras says in the ARD interview, Sonja is clear “that Katharina and Laura are the real heroines of the court”.
