From this Friday, and until March 31, the program that will make available to the public, throughout the country, 15,000 tons of meat per month at a price 30% lower than that offered in the market is in force. The program was presented at the beginning of the week by the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa, who affirmed that the program seeks to contain the inflation of the family basket.

Buyers will be able to find them in all supermarkets and hypermarkets in the United Supermarkets Association (ASU), the Argentine Chamber of Supermarkets (CAS) and the Argentine Federation of Supermarkets and Self-Services (FASA). They will also be available in refrigerator butcher shops across the country.

Thus, in some supermarkets you can get the roast at $1,035 per kilo, the vacuum at $1,351 per kilo, the matamre at $1,310 per kilo, the brisket at $675 per kilo, the roast cover at $1,035 per kilo, the buttock at $1,375 per kilo. kilo and the shoulder at $1,113 per kilo. Matías Tombolini, Secretary of Commerce of the Nation, explained that for compliance control “the meatpackers must present an affidavit a week to verify compliance with price and volume. We need the meat, at these prices, to be on the gondola, and our challenge is that this be fulfilled as we agreed”. Finally, he expressed that from the national government “we work so that the salary allows us to buy, each month that passes, a little more.”

The commitment is that 15,000 tons of seven barbecue cuts will be allocated, made available in supermarkets throughout the country. The monthly consumption of these cuts is 60,000 per month, so 25% of that is being offered with this plan.

“We made the decision to attack short- and medium-term problems, without failing to see that we have as a long-term challenge to increase the volume of sales and production. But understanding that it is important to solve short-term problems by increasing supply and taking care of the pocket of the Argentines”, Minister Massa explained in the presentation.

In addition, and in parallel to these price agreements, the national government implemented a series of benefits that will be part of the same program. Thus, those who buy at participating points of sale with a debit card (bank and non-bank) will receive a refund for an amount equivalent to 10% of the total value of the purchase, with a limit of $2,000.

The return will be automatic and will be credited within a maximum period of 48 hours. The measure will be applied only to businesses registered with the AFIP on the effective date of the program. It includes butcher shops, mini-markets and businesses that are registered in VAT as MiPyme, but hypermarkets and chain supermarkets are not included in the 10% refund.
