Nubia (ZTE) has just unveiled the RedMagic 8 Pro+, a monster of speed that is intended above all for mobile gamers. In direct competition with the ROG Phone from Asus, this smartphone is the first to integrate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor from Qualcomm, which turns out to be quite simply the most efficient of the American founder to date (with precision engraving 4nm). With this, users will be able to enjoy no less than 16 GB of RAM. A key technical feature to be able to use several apps simultaneously while guaranteeing them maximum speed.

On the chip side, the manufacturer announces 42% improved results for the graphics, which again confirms the appeal of video game enthusiasts for such a range. What’s more, the component would be half as energy intensive. However, autonomy is not what is missing here: Nubia has integrated 5,000 mAh under the hood. Another version of the device, the RedMagic 8 Pro, has half the RAM but benefits from an even better battery with 6000mAh. But the latter is only compatible with 80 watt fast charging, against a monstrous transfer of 165 watts for the RedMagic 8 Pro+.

The ideal screens for your gaming games?

With this, the RedMagic 8 Pro and the RedMagic 8 Pro+ from Nubia are equipped with a large 6.8-inch screen whose size thus exceeds that of a iPhone 14 Pro Max or a Galaxy S22+. With a refresh rate reaching the 120Hz, the images will be fluid and reactive and the comfort will be all the better when you see that the format/panel ratio exceeds 93%. This small feat is due to the integration of the camera under the screen, which is still quite rare today, but which, we hope, will soon become the norm in Europe and elsewhere.

Another advantage: the luminosity, announced up to 1,300 nits and can therefore easily cope with sessions in direct sunlight. We know the frustration that some players can feel by missing elements of scenery or gameplay because of a bad reflection: here, this will not be the case. And since Android 13 powers the RedMagic 8 Pro, most mainstream titles are compatible: PUBG, Call of Duty Mobile or Fifa Mobile are part of it.

The RedMagic 8 Pro and the RedMagic 8 Pro+ also integrate their own fan to cool the system. Avoiding overheating is essential: this does not reduce the life of the battery.

Price and availability

The only downside, and not the least: the new RedMagic 8 Pro and RedMagic 8 Pro+ are not currently available in France. Only China is entitled to it, for the equivalent of 3,999 yuan with the 8 Pro or 550 euros around. The 8 Pro+ is still quite affordable given its value proposition, but tops out at nearly $700.

An international version is still planned, but it will not be announced until the 16th January next. With marketing within two weeks.
