Premios Tony.

Last night the Tony Awards took place at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, which honor the best Broadway productions each year.

“The Outsiders,” a gritty adaptation of the classic young adult novel, took over Broadway on Sunday by winning the Tony Award for best new musical.

The production, based on the beloved book by author SE Hinton, is about rival gangs of rich and poor in Oklahoma in the 1960s.

The win meant that Angelina Jolie, one of his producers, also won her first Tony.

“Stereophonic,” the play about a Fleetwood Mac-like band recording an album during a turbulent, life-changing year, won best new play and had the most awards of the night with five.

For her part, Kara Young, the first African-American artist to be nominated for a Tony for three consecutive years, won this time as best supporting actress in a play, for “Purlie Victorious.”
