The first speech by Adrien Quatennens in the hemicycle of the National Assembly since his conviction for domestic violence caused a brief uproar this Tuesday evening inside the Palais Bourbon, while the deputies debated the pension reform .
The announcement of the intervention of the deputy from the North, suspended from the LFI group, aroused boos and slams from the desk in the ranks of the majority. But also applause from the side of the rebellious.

A sequence denounced at the exit of the hemicycle by Aurore Bergé, president of the Renaissance group. “What is clear is that his return was prepared by the LFI deputies. We have LFI deputies, in particular Sophia Chikirou, who have changed places”, affirms the elected macronist at the microphone of BFMTV.

“He was sentenced for hitting his wife (…) We could not do anything as if nothing had happened, as if his return was banal, as if his return was normal and we have a human reaction”, continues Aurore Bergé, who claims to have seen “colleagues from other groups leaving, women in tears” after the intervention of Adrien Quatennens.
Several left-wing deputies indeed left the hemicycle when Adrien Quatennes spoke, in particular the ecologists Sandrine Rousseau, Marie-Charlotte Garin, Sophie Taillé-Polian and Sandra Regol, as well as the communist Elsa Faucillon.
“It was a way of carrying a political message. And sometimes silence and a departure, it is more promising than the agitation that we could see in the hemicycle”, explained to the microphone of BFMTV the ecologist Marie-Charlotte Garin.
