After a test period where the pubs in Karlstad were allowed to stay open until 03:00, they can now once again close at 02:00 at the latest. Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Labor Market and Social Committee will raise the issue and there may be a new decision.
– The perception is that there have not been more interventions connected to the pub environment during the test than before, says Ulrika Sundström, head of the Karlstad local police area.
The board has taken note of input from various actors regarding the extended opening hours that were tested over two years. The evaluation will form the basis as the issue will now be raised when the board meets on Wednesday.
Opinions about the benefit of closing at 03 differ, but restaurateur Asmir Ziric welcomes an opportunity to close later than today.
