The brothers, who have British citizenship, are being investigated for human trafficking, rape and the establishment of an organized criminal group and will be produced in custody on Friday.
This is reported, among other things, by the Romanian newspaper Gandul and the news agency Reuters.
Gold, weapons and cars
Romanian prosecutors write in a press release that two Romanian citizens have also been arrested in the same case, and that they have carried out five searches. They do not mention the Tate brothers by name, but have released video of the arrest and from the search.
Here we see everything from cash, watches, firearms, knives, gold bars to a number of cars at the site.
Tricked with promises of real feelings
According to prosecutors, the Tate brothers recruited women by promising them marriage or cohabitation.
They are said to have tricked women into believing that it was true feelings, but then they were eventually housed in buildings where they were forced to perform sexual acts.
So far, the police believe that six women are involved.
They are said to have been subjected to physical and psychological violence and sexually exploited.

The Tate brothers have not made an official statement following their arrest, but Andew Tate made a brief statement on his way into the police car.
– I think the matrix has attacked me, he said.
The Romanian public prosecutor’s office also believes that the suspects had plans for human trafficking in the United States and Great Britain as well.
Self-proclaimed sexist
The title-winning kickboxer from Luton became famous outside the sporting world when he appeared on UK Big Brother in 2016.
However, his stay there lasted only six days. Then he was kicked out, because of a video that showed him hitting a woman with a belt.
In recent years, he has become known as a controversial, right-wing and self-proclaimed sexist internet personality and influencer.

He followed up with homophobic and racist tweets, and when the #MeToo debate started in October 2017, he stated that women who are raped must bear some of the responsibility themselves.
The more controversies, the more famous Tate became. Some of the videos have reportedly been viewed several billion times.
Several social media outlets have removed Tate’s accounts, but he got his Twitter account back after the company was bought by Elon Musk. Here he has 3.4 million followers.
Andrew Tate has allegedly lived in Romania in the last five years. He allegedly said he moved partly because it was easier to avoid charges of rape here.

Thunberg conflict
Earlier this week, Tate ridiculed climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter. The 36-year-old boasted of the emissions from his 33 cars.
19-year-old Thunberg’s answer is reportedly one of those ten most liked The Twitter messages ever.
Tate then posted a video in which a Romanian pizza box was visible, and the internet is speculating whether this contributed to his arrest. It is not confirmed that this is true.
