After María Eugenia Vidal reconsidered the candidacies in the PRO (see: https://www.eldia.com/nota/2023-4-18-4-57-18-vidal-propuso-bajar-todas-las-candidaturas–politica-y-economia), from the UCR came out to criticize. The one who made the intern the most spicy was the candidate for president for radicalism and governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales, who slipped the possibility that Mauricio Macri is behind that proposal of the former governor.

In this sense, he maintained that “Vidal’s proposal is striking, but it is a proposal for the PRO, we are another party. There is a lot of noise in the PRO, I don’t want to get involved until everything calms down a bit. Unless Macri has repented.” In addition, the president of Jujuy asked to focus on the STEP by stating that “the situation is very complicated, but it will be resolved, the STEP will take place and we will all be united to face what is coming, which is to govern the Argentine Republic” .

In the interview he gave to Radio Perfil, he assured that “I do not believe that any leader of the PRO, of radicalism, of the Civic Coalition or of Republican Peronism would be so irresponsible to break Together for Change”, while adding: ” In my opinion, it is the political force that is in a position to govern the country, with all our defects and virtues”.

In addition to the elections, Morales referred to a key issue in the country: inflation. “It is no longer surprising that each month the inflation situation is more complex. We have a lot to do, so we are going to focus on working on the government program and we are going to gather the economic teams possibly this week”, the presidential candidate specified.

Call

On the other hand, Morales called for tomorrow a meeting of the Board of Directors of the party’s National Committee, in which “the main current national issues” will be discussed, according to sources from that political force. From radicalism they explained that one of the issues to be addressed at the meeting, which will be held tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at the National Committee headquarters, will be “the cost of living and its social repercussions.” The meeting is called after the dissemination by INDEC last Friday of the inflation rate for March, which stood at 7.7 percent, reaching 104.3% in the interannual measurement.

Another of the points to be addressed by the radical authorities is “the health situation as a consequence of dengue” and the “deterioration of the democratic debate due to the increase in polarization and verbal violence.” In this sense, it is expected that radicalism will condemn the expressions of the Security Minister, Aníbal Fernández, who stated during a report that there could be “blood in the streets” in the event that the opposition triumphs in the presidential elections.

Today radicalism has two firm pre-candidates for the presidency: the head of the National Committee, Gerardo Morales, and the national deputy and neuroscientist Facundo Manes. Morales has been working for months with the purpose of consolidating a political alliance with the head of the Buenos Aires Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, and moves away from the toughest sector of the PRO, which is usually referenced in former president Mauricio Macri and in the presidential candidate Patricia Bullrich.

Manes, meanwhile, after having made a very good election in the 2021 legislatures, projects his candidacy with a speech focused on education and productive development, and tries to avoid discussions of the situation.

In the previous one, the radicalismo appears with less intention to vote than the PRO headed for the Casa Rosada, but its leaders believe that the potential candidates of the centennial political force could form crossed formulas with candidates of the party founded by Macri in all categories.
