OpenAI has finally made public the new subscription plan for ChatGPTcalled ChatGPT Plus, available for $20 a month. Subscribers will have priority access to ChatGPT, even during peak traffic, faster response times, and the ability to experiment with new features and improvements as they become available.
For now, ChatGPT Plus is available only for customers in the United States, chosen by customers on the waiting list that appeared online some time ago to express their interest in the “pro” plan and which contained a questionnaire in which aspiring users were also asked for an idea of the price they would have deemed appropriate for the subscription. The goal is to expand access and support to other countries and regions.
Open AI however, it will continue to offer free access to ChatGPT and specifies that the decision to offer this paid plan was also born to support free access for as many people as possible.
ChatGPT was originally launched as a research preview, to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the system and gather user feedback to improve it. Since then, millions of people have put it to the test and helped grow the project, with OpenAI making major updates and seeing that many have found value in a wide range of professional use casesincluding writing and editing content, generating ideas, helping with programming, and learning new topics.
OpenAI plans to refine and expand this offering based on user feedback. Waitlist for ChatGPT API will be launched soon and explorations are underway for low-cost plan options, enterprise plans, and data bundles for higher availability.
