The dispute over the confiscated villa of the Remmo clan continues to occupy the judiciary. The family does not accept the judgment of the Neukölln district court (Az: 10 C 485/21), according to which they must vacate the property, and have appealed. This was announced by a court spokeswoman on Thursday at the request of the dpa news agency.

Now the district court of Berlin has to examine the case. When this happens, however, is open, as the spokeswoman said. First of all, the parties to the proceedings would have the opportunity to comment.

The property has belonged to the State of Berlin since 2018

The clan villa and land is one of 77 properties that the Berlin public prosecutor’s office confiscated in 2018. According to the authorities, these were not bought with legal money. Since the confiscation, the property has belonged to the state of Berlin, with the Neukölln district as the municipality responsible for it.

The villa was searched several times

Initially, this did not change anything in the tenancy. However, the district later fired the family and set an eviction deadline until the end of October 2021. Since the family stayed, the district went to court – and was successful.

Following the district court’s April 6 ruling, the district has a right to the eviction. It cites outstanding rent payments as the reason for this. According to the decision, the family must pay 6,800 euros plus interest. District Mayor Martin Hikel (SPD) spoke of a “first important step” after the verdict. Before the eviction occurs, however, the district wants “absolute legal certainty”.

Regardless of the dispute over the property, there have been multiple searches in the clan villa. Most recently, the police arrived on suspicion of a robbery, which two family members are said to have committed. Relatives of the house residents are currently on trial in Dresden – because of the theft of jewels from the historic Green Vault in November 2019. (dpa/Tsp)
