In the Tidö Agreement, the Moderates and the Sweden Democrats agreed on migration policy, but when the EU Parliament decided on a new asylum and migration pact, the parties voted completely differently.

Mattias Karlsson (SD), member of the Riksdag and former interim party leader, now comes out with a demand:

“The government must stop the ‘Migrant Pact’ in the EU Parliament draft, designed by the Swedish moderate Tomas Tobé. If not, I have a hard time seeing how the basis for our collaboration can continue,” tweets Karlsson.

EU-parliament voted yes to the migration pact on Thursday. Earlier this week, the Sweden Democrats’ EU parliamentarian Charlie Weimers had rallied votes to stop the issue, but failed.

– Opening up for a law that gives the European Commission the opportunity to dictate the migrant quota to Sweden is, I believe, the wrong way to go and will create problems for Swedish governments in the future, says Charlie Weimers, EU Member of Parliament for SD, Weimers said in a debate with Tobe in Current affairs on Thursday evening.

EU parliamentarian Tomas Tobé, who was chief negotiator in the work, believes that the pact means greater control at the external border and that the EU now makes a greater difference between people with actual reasons for asylum and economic migrants.

SVT Nyheter is looking for SD, Mattias Karlsson and the Moderates.
