The 56-year-old artist releases his new album The life. In this one he approaches for the first time through the title The secret the painful liabilities of his father, who died in 2018, victim of sexual abuse.
“So this story that is killing me, reveal it, free me”. In his new album The lifereleased this Friday, singer Arthur H lifts the veil on the painful past of his father, Jacques Higelin, who died in 2018.
Guest at the microphone of RTLthe 56-year-old artist said the song The secretpresent on his new record, evokes the story of his father, a victim of sexual abuse in his childhood, for nearly five years.
Even if the artist and his sister, the singer Izïa, were aware of the affair, he “never wanted or succeeded in talking about it”, assures Arthur H. His son therefore did it in his place in music.
“The danger, the pain, what I had to endure. The courage to run away. You have to know it”, sings the artist in its title The secret.
“A Soul Relief”
Before dying, Jacques Higelin however managed to entrust his story to a person. As Arthur H points out to RTL, his father gave himself up to journalist Valérie Lehoux, so that his story would be publicized.
“He felt he was going to leave, so he asked him to tell his story. […] This is what touched me, this form of soul relief. Even if it’s late, what he wanted to say has been said”, explains Arthur H
From this confession, the specialist in French song has drawn a book entitled Because always silence kills, who himself inspired Arthur H for his song The secret.
According to the artist, who gave his testimony to the book, this story must reveal the identity of his father’s attacker, a man close to him. Because silence always kills will be published on March 1st by Flammarion editions.
