Bangkok, Aug 5 (EFE).- The Spanish Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, son of actor Rodolfo Sancho, was arrested this Saturday on suspicion of the murder of a Colombian surgeon on the island of Koh Phangan (southern Thailand), according to information from EFE sources close to the case.

Sancho, 29, had been questioned since Friday by the Thai police, who say he has confessed to the crime and has revealed that he killed and dismembered the Colombian Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, 44, out of “jealousy” and fear of that “cheated” him.

The Spaniard is being held at the Koh Phangan police station and on Monday he could be transferred to the neighboring island of Samui, where he would go to court. That day the judge is expected to review the case and the evidence presented by the police and decide whether he will formally charge him.

The name of the alleged perpetrator of the crime revealed by the police coincides with that of the son of the Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, grandson of the actor Sancho Gracia, as well as the photographs provided by the Thai authorities.

EFE has unsuccessfully tried to contact the representative of the actor, known for his work in Spanish television series such as “Mar de plástico”, “El Ministerio del Tiempo” or “Amar en tiempos revueltos”.

The Spanish embassy in Thailand is in direct contact with the suspect’s father, according to sources close to him.

HE COMPLAINTED THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE COLOMBIAN

Sancho, whose visa has been revoked, had been under police surveillance since Friday, after he himself reported the disappearance of his friend, who allegedly arrived on the island a day earlier, at a Kho Phangan police station on Thursday night.

According to police sources told EFE, the young man accompanied the police this Saturday to the places where he allegedly threw different parts of the Colombian’s dismembered body, including the sea.

A garbage collector had discovered a severed pelvis and human intestines hidden in a bag of fertilizer dumped at a dump on the tourist island on Thursday, prompting police to begin investigating a possible murder.

During a new search at the same dump on Friday, more human remains were found, including a bag containing two parts of lower limbs, along with a T-shirt and shorts, local media reported.

The Thai police had previously told EFE that they were looking for the rest of the members, especially the head.

After these discoveries, the police had decided this Friday to question the Spaniard as a suspect, also after noticing that he showed cuts and scratches on his body when he had gone to the police station to report the disappearance.

Likewise, the police told EFE that Sancho was captured by security cameras earlier this week buying knives, a saw and garbage bags, and that they had searched his accommodation on the island located in the Gulf of Thailand and known for its parties. full moon

According to the Bangkok Post newspaper, citing sources of the investigation, the two men had arranged to travel and meet in Koh Phangan, where the alleged victim had booked a hotel room from July 31 to August 3.

Sancho, who stated that he went to pick up his friend at a pier on Koh Phangan around 3 p.m. on Wednesday and that they spent the day together, told police that his friend disappeared after midnight that same day.

Images from island security cameras collected by local media show the two on a motorcycle on August 2.

On Friday, the suspect posted a story on his Instagram account on the beach next to the Anantara hotel, one of the most exclusive on the island. EFE
