On the first of August, the problems must be fixed. It is about mold in the building, moisture damage, inadequate ventilation system and insufficient fire protection.

What happens if the school fails to remedy the deficiencies?

– In cases where an employer does not remedy the deficiencies we require in an inspection notice, we can decide on injunctions or prohibitions, i.e. in different ways force the employer to live up to the work environment legislation, says Annica Nyqvist, section manager at the Work Environment Agency.

In addition to that, the Work Environment Agency can also combine injunctions and prohibitions with a fine.

Had problems before

It is not the first time that Älghultskolan’s shortcomings have been in the spotlight. In September was measured seriously high levels of radon at school. Levels were measured up to around six times higher than recommended.

Annica Nyqvist cannot answer exactly what risks the students are exposed to today in connection with the new deficiencies that have been discovered, but she says that it is up to the employer to correct.

– It is the employer who is responsible for the business being conducted in such a way that the working environment is good and that no one gets sick or injured because of the work, she says.
