We gave CrossfireX a well-deserved bottom rating last year, but Korea’s Smilegate insisted that they would keep the game alive both by releasing new single-player campaigns and, above all, by expanding and improving multiplayer. However, this promise did not last very long.

In a new one FAQ it appears that Smilegate is now closing the entire game on May 18. And it’s not just the multiplayer that’s smoking, it includes both single player campaigns developed by Remedy. Those who have made an in-game purchase in the last 14 days will automatically get their purchase refunded, but anyone who bought promotions or spent money on microtransactions before then? Yeah… tough luck.

This is just one of many games with live service setups that have been shut down in a fairly short period of time, which include Apex Legends Mobile, Knockout City, and Rumbleverse, among others.
