Fernando Báez Sosa was assassinated on January 18, 2020 at the exit of the Le Brique bowling alley in Villa Gesell.

Almost three years after the brutal crime, which generated a very strong impact on society, the long-awaited trial will begin against the eight rugby players accused of “double aggravated homicide due to treachery and the premeditated competition of two or more people.”

The judicial process will start on January 2, 2023 and is expected to end on the 31st of the same month. However, there is a good chance that it will spread, since there are a large number of witnesses called to testify

The defendants are Máximo Thomsen, Enzo Comelli, Matías Benicelli, Ayrton Viollaz, Blas Cinalli, Luciano, Lucas and Ciro Pertossi, who are housed in the La Plata 3 Departmental Mayor’s Office, in the town of Melchor Romero, where they maintain a different day from the of the rest of the detainees after denouncing harassment and mistreatment by other inmates.

From the day of the attack until now, none of the eight spoke publicly in order not to break the pact of silence and during the debate it will be the first time they will do so. Surely there they will tell how the beating occurred and they will try to defend themselves, each from their role, and with their due participation in the crime.
