Opposition denounces disappearance of another leader of Machado's team

CARACAS.- The Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) announced the beginning of the election campaign for the presidential elections on the 28th of this month with a “caravan for Venezuela” that will start today, Thursday, July 4, from Caracas.

The main opposition coalition made the announcement on its X account, where it indicated that it will soon announce “10 dates” on which supporters will be able to accompany the “unitary” candidate. Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia now the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado in what they have called the “Great Caravan with Venezuela.”

“This Thursday, July 4, the Great Caravan with Venezuela begins in Caracas. 10 dates to accompany Edmundo Gonzalez y Maria Corina Machado “On this route to freedom,” wrote the PUD campaign command in X.

Along with the dates, the PUD said that it will also report which will be the concentration points in each entity of Venezuela and urged supporters to be “vigilant” for the announcements.

According to the schedule for the July 28 presidential election, released by the National Electoral Council (CNE), the formal electoral campaign will last 22 days, between July 4 and July 25. However, both the ruling party and the majority opposition have been touring the country’s regions for months to promote voting.

The Unitary Platform, which brings together opposition parties, confirmed the deployment of a battery of technical teams to carry out “a thorough observation of the process” and to report “any incidents.” It seeks to “guarantee the transparency and security of the process.”

González Urrutia, the main opposition candidate, has limited his social media posts to encouraging the Venezuelan soccer team, which was playing a Copa América match on Sunday.

Machado has been touring several Venezuelan states gathering support for González Urrutia.
