The US Attorney's Office announces the beginning of a special investigation into the son of President Biden

MADRID, 11 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland announced this Friday the appointment of Delaware State Attorney David Weiss as a special investigator in a case involving Hunter Biden, son of United States President Joe Biden.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in June to a series of misdemeanors for irregularities on his income tax return, including non-payment of taxes. However, the exact terms of his guilty plea were never settled on an additional firearms possession charge. While this matter is in litigation, Biden’s son remains found not guilty.

In addition, Hunter Biden faces a potential GOP-led congressional investigation into what House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer describes as the Biden family’s “shady dealings.”

The speaker of the House of Representatives, also a Republican Kevin McCarthy, has come to suggest this week that he could support a possible investigation against the president himself that could acquire the category of ‘impeachment’ or political trial.

It should be noted that prosecutor David Weiss, who is already examining the case against Hunter Biden as state attorney, was nominated in 2017 by then-president Donald Trump, and ratified by the Republican Senate a year later. With Weiss’s nomination, Biden wants to clear up all doubts about any accusation of partisanship in favor of his son.

Federal prosecutors, it should be remembered, have spent five years investigating Hunter Biden for possible felonies of tax evasion, money laundering and other possible crimes.
