US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has claimed that Russia’s attacks on Ukraine “go against the rest of the world” after destroying 180,000 tons of grain since the end of the Black Sea agreement, including 40,000 in the last 24 hours.
“We have seen that Russia has intensified its attacks in such a way that they are not only targeting the population of Ukraine, but against the entire world, because they are targeting infrastructure related to grain,” Miller said during a press conference.
“We have seen the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, announce, in a clear propaganda move, that he would send, I don’t know, between 25,000 and 50,000 tons of grain to African countries. Well, just since the end of the grain deal, the attacks of Russia have destroyed 180,000 tons of grain inside Ukraine, including 40,000 destroyed in the last 24 hours,” the spokesman added.
On the other hand, the UN continues to “do what it can” to get Russian and Ukrainian food and fertilizer to international markets, a task complicated by attacks on Ukrainian ports.
“We are against any attack on civilian infrastructure. The Secretary General (António Guterres) has made it clear, and difficulties are created by anything that prevents work in Ukrainian ports,” Guterres deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said. , during a press conference.
