Clueso’s profile

The career of Clueso

Thomas Hübner alias Clueso was born and grew up in Erfurt. He has a brother who is also a musician. Thomas Hübner was already part of the hip-hop scene at the age of 15 and still performed as “Clüso”.

After school he began an apprenticeship as a hairdresser, which he broke off in 1998. In the same year met his future manager.

In 2000 he signed his first recording contract with the “Fanta 4” label “Four Music” and went public under the stage name “Clueso”.

His first album “Text und Ton” was released in 2001. Numerous performances with his live band followed. In 2004 the second album with more singing and less rap was released: “Gute Musik”.

In 2005, Clueso entered the Bundesvision Song Contest for Thuringia with his single “Kein Bock zu geh’n” and finished seventh. In the same year he was sent around the world by the Goethe Institute as an “ambassador for a young, lively Germany”: he had performances in Italy, and later to New Zealand and Australia.

In 2008 he performed again at the Bundesvision Song Contest and this time took second place. Numerous other albums followed. In 2015 he separated from his band and performed with changing casts in the future.

In 2018, Clueso sang the song for the World Cup: “Together” with the Fantastischen Vier and released his eighth album “Handbaggage”. Singles with Capital Bra, KC Rebell and Andreas Bourani followed.

In 2020 and 2021 Clueso had to postpone his planned tour of Germany due to the corona pandemic. This could finally start in September 2022.

Clueso private

Clueso doesn’t reveal much about his personal life. In a conversation with “DB Mobil” – the customer magazine of Deutsche Bahn – he spoke about his difficult childhood. He received psychiatric treatment as a child for his hyperactivity.

He now has the disease under better control. He tries to put his energy into his music. However, he would still not tolerate standing still.

Clueso currently lives in a condominium in Erfurt. He rarely talks about his relationship status. In the ninth season of Sing meine Song, he reveals that he’s never said the magic three words “I love you.”

Music by Clueso
