The US government denied that there were changes in the immigration policy towards Cubans who illegally crossed the border and received an I220-A immigration document.

“There is no change in policy regarding Cuban nationals in the United States who entered illegally,” said the undersecretary of border and immigration issues at the Department of Homeland Security, Blas Nuñez-Neto, in a virtual press conference.

His response was directed to journalists who asked about the case of some Cubans who entered the country and received the I-220A form and unexpectedly received a parole by mail, he cited. Martí News.

When speaking about current border operations and the implementation of immigration laws, Nuñez-Neto emphasized that since May 12, more than 380,000 people who crossed the border illegally have been repatriated by US authorities.

Nuñez-Neto stressed that the expansion of legal avenues and the consequences for those who enter illegally have had a significant impact on the decrease in the migratory flow since May 12.

Nuñez-Neto acknowledged the enormous demand for the humanitarian parole process and assured that those who applied first will receive their appointments soon.
