The USA won gold in the Women’s Ice Hockey World Cup. Canada had the lead three more times but Hilary Knight of the United States scored a hat trick that secured the gold for the United States.

When the third period started, Canada had a 3-2 lead. Caroline Harvey from the USA equalized the match with 14.20 left to play and after that everything went the USA’s way.
Canada picked up a pair of ejections and Hilary Knight punctuated the game with two power play goals in thirty seconds.
– It takes a whole village for a player to succeed on the ice, and having 25 players is an incredible feat. We have so many great leaders on this team. I think that is what is so special about this national team, Knight says after the game.
With his hat-trick, Knight has now scored over 100 goals in the national team kit.
The Czech Republic defended the bronze
For the second year in a row, the bronze medal match was a battle between the Czech Republic and Switzerland. But this time too, the Czech Republic emerged victorious from the bronze medal match with three goals to two.
