The streaming giant is preparing a new version of this 1953 classic, and unveils a first image of the cast.
The Wages of Fear, a cult Franco-Italian film from 1953, will be given a new life. 70 years later, Netflix is preparing a remake directed by Julien Leclerq and worn by Franck Gastambide, Fianso, Ana Girardot and Alban Lenoir. The platform unveils this Tuesday a first image of the film on which the quartet of actors appears.
The original film, by Henri-Georges Clouzot, featured four uprooted Europeans living in Central America. They agreed to transport two trucks filled with four hundred kilos of liquid nitroglycerin in barrels, in exchange for remuneration that would allow them to get out of misery. The main roles were held by Yves Montand, Charles Vanel, Folco Lulli and Peter Van Eyck. He had been decorated with the Golden Bear in Berlin and the Palme d’Or in Cannes.

No additional information on this new version has been revealed. If, according to the photo, the shooting has started, it is not known when the film will be available. It will be a new production by Julien Leclerq for Netflix, after the films earth and blood et Sentinel then the series Robbersbetween 2020 and 2021.
Rapper Sofiane Zermani, also known by the pseudonym Fianso, will find his acting hat there after several notable roles, notably in the Netflix film Under the influence or on the stage of the Théâtre du Châtelet in 2022 in Gatsby the magnificent. Actor and director Franck Gastambide (Pattaya, Taxi 5), Ana Girardot (two me, The flame) and Alban Lenoir (Spangled Shrimps) will complete the distribution.
