The goalkeeper of the white club will miss several months of competition after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during this Thursday’s session. The 31-year-old Belgian footballer will undergo surgery in the coming days and will remain out for at least nine months, according to ‘Cadena SER’.
“You never expect to go through something like this, but now it’s time to accept it and do everything to overcome it, and come back even stronger,” Courtois says on his Twitter profile. “Thank you all for the energy, love and encouragement. I assure you that they motivate me to recover as soon as possible”, adds the player next to a photograph where he is seen with his leg fully bandaged waiting for the intervention.
