BSG Chemie on nationwide TV. And right in the middle manager Uwe Thomas (61), who involuntarily became a TV star – in the satirical show TV total.

That’s what it was about: During the half-time break of the game between BSG Chemie and Babelsberg (1:1), Thomas was interviewed by Alexander Küpper on MDR. So far so good. The outfit of the slightly overweight manager, a green and white pompom hat and a white fleece jacket, already caused amusement among the spectators.

And that worked TV total moderator Sebastian Pufpaff now on his show.

He said at the beginning of the TV clip: “There was a nice interview with the sporting director of Chemie Leipzig. The reporter talks to the sports director of Chemie Leipzig and you always have a picture in front of you of what he looks like, like in almost any job. When I say doctor, you have a doctor in mind. When I say librarian… and how do you imagine the athletic director of Chemie Leipzig to be?” After a short pause, he says, “Wrong…”

The video comes, the studio starts spluttering.

Pufpaff continued: “I’m sorry. But I expected everything but him here. With the little green tip dwarf. I didn’t count that. And that’s actually bad. Would someone have said sausage stand, yes. But athletic director? Hm… And now I’m asking myself, is that already jobshaming, is that already clichéd racism.”

Thomas himself couldn’t really laugh about it – because: “You don’t expect something like that. And it was really cold during the interview. I could have even worn an extra jacket. But if it helps that we get some attention and that the hat goes well in our fan shop – so be it.”

He won’t fight back. However, Pufpaff should be invited to one of the next home games in Leutzsch. Let’s see if he dares to come…
