If Henry Cavill will no longer don the armor of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher series on Netflix, the trend is different on the video game side with the arrival of the latest Next Gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt . What’s more, the actor never leaves his dog behind, so here’s everything you need to do to have a chance of finding him in play.
Dogs are man’s best friend, even in video games
Since December 14, players can discover (or rediscover) the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in a new light thanks to the latest Next Gen update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on the console side, but also on PC. This is therefore an opportunity for fans of the franchise to explore the Continent in a sublime setting in 4K thanks to Ray-Tracing mode or to gallop on the back of Roach in a Performance mode at 60 frames per second.
But that’s not all because this new update also rolls out the red carpet to reference Henry Cavill, the British actor playing Geralt of Rivia in the eponymous series on Netflix. As such, a new quest is available and the reward of which allows you to craft and put on the black armor worn by Henry Cavill in the series in question. But it seems that this quest hides another secret involving his best friend, who is none other than his dog called Kal.
Definitely, it seems that CD Projekt wanted to pay a nice tribute to Henry Cavill through this Next Gen update. After the armor in game, make way for the dog, and what a nice nod from the Polish studio when we know that the actor never leaves his faithful Kal, the few lines that follow explain to you how you can meet him.
In reality, the two elements are related and both stem from the addition of a very specific new quest, titled “In the shadow of eternal fire“. After completing the prologue, start by heading to the Velen Wasteland, near the Hangman’s Tree or Mulberry Valley fast travel points, to accept the quest given by the Eternal Fire Priest there. After following all the steps, not only can you wear the look of Henry Cavill from level 20, but you can also come across the doggie outside the mine where the events of the quest took place. You just have to be a little patient and come back to the scene a few hours later to have a chance to see it.
After having made several appearances in the cinema, in Man of Steel or even Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Kal leaves his mark in one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
