On December 25, 2022, Netflix has reserved a beautiful Christmas gift for its subscribers! The streaming platform has indeed unveiled The Witcher: Blood Origineither Blood Legacy in French version. This is a prequel consisting of four episodes. Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin tells a forgotten story: that of the origin of the very first witcher and the events that led to the “conjunction of the spheres”, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged into one. If some fans of the universe may be surprised not to see Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia in this series, it’s quite simply because his character had not yet been born! The series takes place 1,200 years before the original series, so that’s why it does not appear in Blood Origin.
Must you have seen The Witcher to watch Blood Legacy ?
Netflix subscribers currently have two seasons of The Witcher, while the third (with Henry Cavill) will land in the summer of 2023 on the catalog. If you want to watch Blood Origin without necessarily watching all the episodes of the original series, it’s not a problem. Although both projects are set in the same universe, featuring similar fantasy elements and non-human species, they are very different. The spin-off can allow spectators to get their first foot in the universe of The Witcherbefore focusing on the first two seasons of the series.

Who is in the cast of Blood Origin on Netflix?
The mini-series The Witcher: Legacy of Blood particularly highlights Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once), in the role of Scian. She is a member of the Ghost Clan, a group of elves who refused to fight in the service of the King of Cintra. “She is saved from certain death by the Clan of the Raven, she is adopted by this one and will become the preceptor and mistress of arms of Éile (the lark). Unfortunately for the queen of Friesland, she will teach Éile more than the art of combat”, as his interpreter explained to EW. Sophia Brown (Marcella, Click) in the role of Éile, and Laurence O’Fuarain (vikings) in the role of Fjall give him the counterpart. Finally, the rest of the cast consists of Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Lenny Henry as Balor, Jacob Collins as Eredin, Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Huw Novelli as Callan, Francesca Mills as Meldorf and Amy Murray as Fenrik.
