The investigation into the theft of more than 100 million pesos in Posadas advanced last night with the arrest of a suspect identified as Juan J. (30). The person involved was arrested by the Investigations Division of the Regional Unit I in the Itaembé Miní neighborhood.

As this medium was able to learn based on sources involved in the investigation, last night a search was carried out at the house in Garupá-Ñu Porá neighborhood – where the detainee lives, which yielded negative results. Sources that participated in the procedure stated that only 70 Uruguayan pesos were found, added to 10,000 pesos.

As reconstructed by El Territorio, the identity of the person involved was targeted by the investigators through the security camera of a Chinese business located near Soria Street and San Martín Avenue in the provincial capital. It recorded the escape of criminals the night of the event.

Polaco, as the apprehended is known, “is an old defendant, he was imprisoned for similar crimes to the east,” they said.

With his identity, the investigations were able to reconstruct that he was often seen in the Itaembé Guazú neighborhood, where he used to visit a young woman in his white Volkswagen Gol. They particularly knew that his routine included buying ice cream in the neighborhood on his visits, so based on that last night a surveillance was set up with several units.

With all this, the arrest took place around 8:30 p.m. yesterday at the intersection of Las Calandrias streets and Los Lirios avenue. As detailed by the sources, before the young man noticed the presence of the officials and tried to flee the wrong way, generating a brief persecution on the site.

However, a force vehicle that was not identified as such intercepted him, resulting in a crash that left him with no chance of escape. Polaco sought to flee on foot, but was immediately caught up and subdued.

The head of the First Investigating Court, Marcelo Cardozo, was present at the site, who coordinated the expert work and ordered the searches in the vehicle and in the house, where everything yielded negative results. It is expected that the cell phone seized by Cybercrime can yield more clues.

It still remains to be defined when the suspect will be transferred to complete the investigative hearing, which could be between tomorrow and Thursday. Meanwhile, they continue to search for the others involved, who would already be identified by the Police.

The millionaire robbery occurred on Friday, April 14, in the apartment of a 25-year-old young man, who lives in Chacra 94 in Posadas.

According to the complaint filed by the merchant, he received an alert on his cell phone that warned him that the door of his apartment had been violated. When she got home, she noticed that she had been forced with crowbars and that three strangers had taken a safe from a room where she kept 240,000 dollars, 8 million pesos, and 3,000 reais.

That money has not yet appeared.
