Washington, Apr 19 (EFE).- A third suspect was arrested and charged this Wednesday after the shooting last Saturday at a teenager’s birthday party in Alabama (southeastern US), which left four dead and more than thirty wounded, according to the authorities.

Wilson LaMar Hill Jr., 20, was arrested and charged Wednesday with four counts of reckless murder, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) announced.

Tuesday night Ty Reik McCullough and Travis McCullough, ages 17 and 16 respectively, were arrested on suspicion of the shooting. Both face four counts of reckless homicide and will be tried as adults, Alabama Fifth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Segrest announced.

The authorities did not comment on the place of the arrest or the reason that the detainees could have had to carry out the assault.

Through a message on the social network Twitter, the Republican governor of Alabama, Kay Ivey, celebrated the “great progress of the forces of order” and defended that “the work is not finished”, as well as offered her support to the ALEA to “ensure that all those responsible for this tragedy are held accountable.”

The shooting happened around 10:34 p.m. Saturday at the Mahogany Masterpiece dance studio in Dadeville, a small town in Tallapoosa County, the same day that at least two people were killed and four wounded by gunshots at a park in Louisville, Kentucky.

The fatalities were identified by authorities as Shaunkivia Nicole “Keke” Smith, 17; Philstavious Dowdell, 18; Marsiah Emmanuel Collins, 19, and Corbin Dahmontrey Holston, 23.

The United States has experienced at least 162 mass shootings in the first 15 weeks of 2023, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines mass shootings as those in which four or more people are killed, not including the perpetrator of the attack.
