The painful win against O’Higgins was a blow that put Colo Colo on alert, where the need to reinforce certain areas of the field was reflected. One of the main bets was aimed at finding a guaranteed replacement for Juan Martín Lucero, who did not continue at the club after leaving for Fortaleza in a bad direction just before the start of the preseason.

That is why the albos searched against time for an attacker who would be a solution for Gustavo Quinteros, where the main cards were Javier Correa, Miguel Merentiel and Darío Lezcano. Finally, the latter is the one chosen to take the place of the Cat.

Good moment from the striker

The 32-year-old Paraguayan attacker had everything agreed with the Cacique to sign a contract for two seasons. Proof of his desire to arrive, was that he personally convinced the FC Juárez board of directors to release his pass heading to the Monumental Stadium.

Lezcano was very comfortable at his club in Mexico, with which he also came at a good individual moment scoring three goals in his last two matches. However, he was seduced by the possibility of playing the Copa Libertadores with the albos and that is why he managed his departure.

For this reason, the former Guaraní national team was not considered in Juárez’s last game against Chivas de Guadalajara and this was recognized by Hernán Cristante, the team’s coach.

Darío Lezcano has an extensive career that began in the Trinidadian Paraguayan, from where he jumped to European football to sign for the FC Wil from Switzerlandcountry where he also played for the Thun and the Luzern. The best stage of him was lived in the Bundesliga thanks to his campaigns with the ingolstadt 04, from where he arrived in Juárez in 2019. In addition, he was the scorer of his team in the Qualifiers for Russia 2018.

In this way, the player joins Fernando De Paul, Ramiro González, Matías Moya, Erick Wiemberg, Carlos Palacios, Leandro Benegas and Fabián Castillo as Colo Colo reinforcements for this season.
