The national government announced that tonight the call for extraordinary sessions of Congress will be published in the Official Gazette, In whose agenda will be included the request for impeachment of the members of the Supreme Court of Justice. The period of the same will be between January 23 and February 28.

In a press conference at Casa Rosada, the presidential spokesperson, Gabriela Cerrutti explained that there will be a total of 27 projects sent by the executive branch, among which are -in addition to the impeachment of the Court- the modification of the Judicial Council, the appointment of the Attorney General of the Nation (the name proposed by Alberto Fernández is Daniel Rafecas) and the Zero Alcohol Law.

On the agenda are a series of economic projects promoted by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa: a pension debt payment plan, a bill to promote agro-industrial development and another bill to promote new energy in the energy sector. The initiative that does not appear among the issues that must be dealt with is money laundering, key to economic management.

Another of the projects that were pending from 2022 also appears, along with the payment plan for the pension debt, which is the creation of national universities. What was not included, which had been stuck from last year, were the modifications to the Rental Law.

The spokesperson for the Presidency, Gabriela Cerruti, assured that the agenda of bills for the period of extraordinary sessions in Congress “is important and extensive enough“and asked that the opposition”understand that in the free democratic game and of the institutions you have to sit down to debate and not extort society by dealing only with the issues that interest them“.

“We hope that the opposition is not irresponsible, as it has been this time, but there is always time to debate and sit in the place of democratic dialogue that is the National Congress. We have an extensive agenda of 27 points where there are very important issues for Argentines, which have to do with productive development, judicial issues, issues that the (Supreme) Court itself has asked to be carried out,” said Gabriela Cerruti at a press conference from Casa Rosada.

In this sense, the official stated that “A judicial reform is necessary” because “Justice in Argentina undermines the rule of law“. “For example, the meeting in Lago Escondido shows that justice in Argentina acts against the rule of law when a group of judges meets with a journalistic businessman, with officials, to organize judicial rulings and then they set up a cover-up attempt “Cerrutti said.
