CDMX.- Ten subjects involved in the shooting attack against the journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva were arrested this Wednesday by elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat and the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office.

“With the support of the CNI, they carried out 12 simultaneous searches, there are 10 detainees. I reiterate, there will be no impunity,” reported Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government of Mexico City.

Gómez Leyva was attacked on the night of December 15 while driving his truck, but was unharmed thanks to the vehicle’s armor.

Gómez Leyva is one of the journalists most criticized by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The federal president even pointed out that the attack could have been a self-attack, although not committed by the journalist.

“When they raise the issue of Ciro, that it could be a self-attack, not because he fabricated it, but because someone did it to affect us, I do not rule it out,” declared the man from Tabasco on December 20.

A day later, López Obrador asserted that the authorities will obtain information to solve the attack against Gómez Leyva because it is not a State crime that is difficult to unravel.

“Because what is very difficult to unravel is a State crime, that is complicated, knowing the whole truth about the assassination of (John F.) Kennedy, knowing the whole truth about the assassination of (Luis Donaldo) Colosio But when it is not a State crime, there is information, information is obtained, because the State agencies that are there to do justice act, there is no impunity, so who is this good for? First, for Ciro, imagine, an attack to his life,” he said then.

On December 30, the Chief Executive asked Claudia Sheinbaum not to leave the investigation of the attack to the journalist to find out what really happened.
