LAS VEGAS (AP). — No charges will be filed after a brief investigation into the altercation involving pop star Britney Spears, San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama and a member of the player’s security team, Las Vegas police said. on Friday.

Spears said she had been struck by a security guard while trying to approach Wembanyama near a restaurant in a Las Vegas casino complex on Wednesday night, a fact that was caught on video and shared on social media.

The French player said that a person, who he was later told was Spears, had grabbed him from behind.

Spears filed a report with police, alleging assault. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said its investigation into her had been concluded and “no charges will be filed against the person involved.”

Police say surveillance video shows Spears inadvertently punched herself in the face after her hand was knocked off Wembanyama.

Wembanyama is scheduled to make his NBA Summer League debut with the Spurs in Las Vegas on Friday night.

The 7-foot-2 French teenager was the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft last month and comes into the league with similar high recognition to LeBron James in 2003.

The altercation occurred on Wednesday night; Spears said she recognized Wembanyama at another hotel earlier and when she saw him again at the Aria Resort & Casino she “decided to go up to him and congratulate him on his success.”

Spears said: “A member of her security team pushed her hand into my face without looking back, in front of a crowd. She nearly knocked me over and caused my glasses to fall off.”
