As the franchise has progressed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced us to several characters who have shown an enormous level of power. Thanos, Thor and the Scarlet Witch are some of these mega-powerful beings, although there seems to be one that has surpassed them… at least according to its director.
We refer to Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter, whom James Gunn considers almost on par with Superman. In his comments about the film Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3the American filmmaker revealed that the power of this Cosmic Entity allows him to face the very same son of krypton.
“Adam Warlock is almost on the same strength level as Superman, so it was pretty intense.”
To tell the truth, the hypothetical fight between Adam Warlock and Superman has always been subject of debates among comic book fans. However, many come to the same conclusion: Superman would beat Warlock as long as the latter does not use the infinity gauntleta contraption that grants immeasurable power to the Cosmic Entity.
Without artifacts involved, the battle would be more balanced and most would choose Superman because of his approach to combat. However, as Stan Lee stated, the outcome of this confrontation will depend on the author or screenwriter, since each one has several advantages in his favor to win the fight.
