CDMX.- The organization México Justo demanded the resignation of Minister Yasmín Esquivel, accused of plagiarizing the thesis with which she graduated in Law.

The petition was externalized through letters sent to the representatives of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN). The association also sent letters to the Senate and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to intervene in his removal from office.

“We consider that Yasmín Esquivel Mossa does not have the constitutional requirements and should not be president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, nor of the Federal Judicial Council, and we ask as an organized civil society that the indicated actions be taken to the Mexican Nation”, he considered.

“It is the turn of you ministers and ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to show your honesty and your commitment to society by not colluding with said acts of corruption and immediately request the resignation of Minister Esquivel Mossa and, in that understanding , open an episode of transparency, honesty and commitment for Mexico,” he added.

The foregoing derived from the recent accusations made against the Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Yasmín Esquivel Mossa, about the plagiarism of her degree thesis in 1987, where the Aragon Faculty of Higher Studies of the UNAM has reported that Esquivel’s thesis and that of another student in 1986 “present a high level of coincidence between both texts.”

In these letters, México Justo.org gave the arguments why Minister Yasmín Esquivel should resign from her post “as soon as possible.” Among them, it is mentioned that a person who has committed an act of corruption of such a degree cannot be aspiring to the position of president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.

They recalled that among the criteria required by the SCJN for candidates for the post is listed having a good reputation or fame.

“Therefore, Minister Esquivel does not comply with honor derived from the existing plagiarism, whatever the sanction of the University itself,” the organization considered.

“Yasmín Esquivel Mossa must resign as Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation based on article 98 of the Constitution: ‘the resignations of the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice will only proceed for serious reasons; they will be submitted to the Executive and, if he accepts them, he will send them to the Senate for approval.’ Considering the fault he has done to the Mexican Nation serious, it is a cause for resignation,” he argued.

In the letter to the Senate of the Republic, México Justo establishes that it corresponds to it, as established in article 76 of the Constitution: “To designate the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, from among the shortlist that it submits to its consideration by the President of the Republic, as well as to grant or deny his approval to the requests for leave or resignation of the same, that said official submits to him”.

“We urgently request that the permanence of Esquivel Mossa in her current position as Minister of the Court be submitted for consideration through an extraordinary session,” she demanded.

They indicated that if she does not submit her resignation, article 109, section III of the Constitution must be applied and sanctioned with her dismissal and disqualification, “because her conduct has affected and continues to damage the principles of legality, honesty and loyalty with which all public servants should be driven.”

Finally, in a letter addressed to Fernando Macedo Chagolla, Director of the Faculty of Higher Studies Aragon of the UNAM, he said that based on the research carried out, where they mention that “there is a high level of coincidences between both texts”, they trust that the Academic and Scientific Integrity Committee of FES Aragón will arrive at the appropriate sanctions derived from said lack.

“Well, the danger and dishonesty that implies that one of the people who direct and move the most important judicial decisions in our country is involved in the worst act of corruption seen by the academy and the crime that the legal system itself punishes,” it was stated. narrowed.

They also demanded that Martha Rodríguez be investigated for participation, knowledge and, in any case, complicity in the plagiarism committed by Yasmín Esquivel Mossa and all cases resulting from her direction.

“Broadly considering that the commented case is an issue that discredits the University and such an issue should not be allowed,” they said.

The organization proposes among its objectives to strengthen the Rule of Law, act as an observer of the Judiciary, seek the correct administration of justice, as well as better scenarios to help in terms of corruption and impunity in the Country.

The letters were signed by Juan Carlos Pérez Góngora, president of México Justo.org with a copy to Minister Arturo Zaldívar Lelo de Larrea, President of the SCJN and the other 9 ministers: Ana Margarita Ríos Farjat, Norma Lucía Piña Hernández, Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá, Alfredo Gutiérrez Ortiz Mena, Jorge Mario Pardo Rebolledo, Loretta Ortiz Ahlf, Javier Laynez Potisek, Luis María Aguilar Morales, and Alberto Pérez Dayán.
