“We demand that the State Government make the commitment to make improvements in this place so that he can relax, here there must be a multidisciplinary team, from a veterinarian specializing in large species, that the place has space where this giraffe can be come check it out,” said animal rights activist Ana Félix.

Before said demonstration, Rogelio Muñoz, administrator of the Central Park, explained that they are working on the rehabilitation of the habitat of the new tenant, who arrived from Culiacán, Sinaloa. A six-meter shade, reforestation of trees, an area to be checked by the veterinarian, as well as drinking troughs for the giraffe to drink water, are part of the work that will be carried out in the habitat, which will be ready in four months. Ana Félix explained that on May 19 the group of animalists will have a meeting with Carla Rivas, Secretary of Human Development and Common Good of the State Government, to whom they will show the signatures that were obtained from the citizens, as well as their petitions in favor of of the giraffe

“We don’t want this new resident to live 21 years like Modesto lived, they really have to consider that it is an animal that they adapt to what you offer them, but I wonder, does it really deserve what they are offering?” he expressed.

He pointed out that the purpose of the demonstration is for the giraffe to have a better treatment than Modesto had, and to avoid giving it junk food that affects its health.
