Relatives of a Cuban who was hospitalized at the Miguel Enríquez Hospital, known as La Benéfica, denounced his death due to alleged medical negligence at that institution in Havana
As denounced by a daughter of the deceased in Facebooklast Monday the 19th, the lady identified as Gladys Calderin passed away after remaining in that hospital without adequate treatment for his alleged leptospirosis, a disease caused by bacteria that can cause life-threatening infections.
In a video published two days before notifying her death, a daughter of the lady reported that she had not been given enough antibiotics despite the fact that her mother had been ill for approximately a month and her health deteriorated considerably after being hospitalized.
“There is no medicine and there is nothing. I already went and protested and I’m waiting for them to come and take care of her. I have told her and nothing. Since Thursday they gave her a single pill for a disease that can cause death,” the woman exclaimed anguished .
Drowning in tears, the daughter recounted her mother was rapidly losing consciousness and screaming in pain every night, but they only gave her duralgin.
“From so much pain and so much infection, he doesn’t even speak, he’s losing his memory and all he does is complain,” he yelled, while his mother in the background, from her hospital bed, moaned.
After almost a week of being hospitalized, she finally passed away on Monday, June 19.
Until now, the authorities have not ruled on this tragic event nor have they clarified the illness that the Cuban woman had.
Complaints like this have become more and more frequent on social networks, which have become the only way for the Cuban population to vent their disagreements in the midst of the crisis in the health system.
Earlier this month, a Cuban mother denounced the death of his 22-year-old daughter due to alleged negligence doctor in a hospital in the Holguín province after a spontaneous abortion of twins.
The young Geidis Maris Castellano Milanés reportedly had a miscarriage of twins, but the hemorrhage was poorly treated by medical personnel and she died several days later.
In May, another person denounced the death of his brother after a fracture hip because there were no resources in the country to operate it.
